an unofficial Mark Kozelek site

In my mind, there are 3 types of discographies: basic, thorough, and extreme. The basic discography just gives the main album releases and the singles. The thorough discography goes further and tells you where the non-album tracks are on various promos or exclusive international releases. The extreme discography leaves out no detail or release - if a song related to the band is on recorded media, you'll know about it.

This discography sits somewhere between thorough and extreme. I am a discography person - I like to know that there is an exclusive song on an Israeli promo that you can't find anywhere else, and the official site sure as hell isn't going to give you that information.

That being said, this discography aims to be as complete as possible in letting you know what releases are out there, as well as letting you know about the releases or promos that may have exclusive tracks for you to hunt down.

However, I have left out common album tracks that may appear on compilations (like the 4AD compilations) or soundtracks that have album versions because these tracks are easily found on their albums and the average person won't care - they just don't want to miss any exclusive tracks.

So, for example, you will see information on the Vanilla Sky soundtrack CD which has a re-recorded version of "Have You Forgotten," which is an exclusive track. And it just so happens that the vinyl version of this soundtrack has an even longer version of this song. But you won't see a listing for the "No Balls" 4AD compilation, which has the album version of "Summer Dress" on it, because that's easily found on their Ocean Beach album.

If you need any further clarification, or you want to send me information I'm missing in the discography (marked with a ?), please do so. Thanks!
