I wasn't there but read a review for one night where it said that Mark (solo) did brilliant versions of Powderfinger and Albuquerque (a song he has done even back in RHP days in the past) and a slightly less successful double act with Ron Sexsmith on "Like a Hurricane". I'd imagine that as it was advertised as SKM a few people would have been disappointed that there wasn't a full band experience. The overall reviews seemed to say that a bit of better organisation and an MC from the start might have helped things be a little more coherent.
A few years ago in Dublin I saw HW's Leonard Cohen tribute which was brilliant and over 4 and a half hours or so the mighty Jarvis Cocker was MC and we all know how good he is at talking (must be some Irish blood there).
There's a nice audience recording of this whole concert available for a limited time on the web, including Mark's 2 tracks. The 'Like a hurricane' duet is not in the tracklist, though.
I won't post the link here....

it's wonderful to hear mark sing powderfinger. but a clarinet? so silly. and out of place. ![]()
I agree. Albuquerque sounds beautiful, maybe the best version of this song I've heard from him. But Powderfinger is disappointing to me. I find the solo terribly cheesy.
Can someone pm me the link?

better than the black cat?
I can't tell, I'm not in full possession of this one at the present time (will be soon...). But so far my favorite version had been the impromptu one he played during the SKM concert in Köln, when touring with strings. It had been requested by sebbydee if I'm not mistaken.

I kinda wondered if that requester was on this forum. ![]()
The Black Cat version is a good one, but the one with Mark singing on a Low show is unbeatable! The guitar solo blows me away. And Low harmonies too! My God!

Ooooh, you might be right, that version is incredible.
Where did Doggies post go?
This place is getting a bit much with the the Kozelek Censorship Regime.
I would like a link to hear his Neil Young covers as well. I know he just gets his "people" to moan when ever he sees a link of something that he doesn't want up. Why I don't know. I also don't believe he has "people" either, it's more than likely just him.
Where did Doggies post go?
he probably deleted it himself

huh? I haven't edited or deleted anyone's post, and to my knowledge, neither have my moderators.
oh surely Doggie hasn't decided to try and wipe his existence from the board. His rants were brilliant even if he did seem a bit mental
he's done it before...
Looks like he did delete everything.
